Glass Skin

“Glass skin” is a term originating from South Korea’s beauty scene, and it’s taken social media by storm. The phrase describes skin so smooth, luminous, and hydrated that it resembles a pane of glass. This trend embodies the global fascination with K-beauty and its emphasis on healthy, dewy skin.

Achieving glass skin involves a multi-step routine focusing on hydration, exfoliation, and layering lightweight, nourishing products. Core steps often include double cleansing, exfoliation with gentle acids, hydrating toners, serums enriched with hyaluronic acid, and finishing with a soothing moisturiser. Sunscreen is a non-negotiable final step to protect the skin’s glow from UV damage.

While glass skin is aspirational, it’s worth noting that genetics, diet, and environmental factors all influence skin texture and luminosity. The pursuit of this ideal can sometimes encourage overuse of products, leading to irritation or barrier damage. I advise focusing on achieving healthy skin over unattainable perfection.
