Glycolic Acid

What it is

Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugarcane. With the smallest molecular size among AHAs, Glycolic acid penetrates the skin deeply, making it highly effective in exfoliation and skin renewal.

How it works in skincare

In dermatology, glycolic acid is widely used in chemical peels, cleansers and serums. Breaking down the bonds between dead skin cells, glycolic acid encourages their removal, revealing smoother, brighter skin underneath. Dermatologists often recommend glycolic acid and other AHAs to address dullness, uneven texture and signs of ageing.

The benefits of Glycolic acid include improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and a more even skin tone. This ingredient also promotes collagen production, helping to firm the skin over time. However, it’s potent nature means glycolic acid should be introduced gradually into your routine to avoid over-exfoliation and sensitivity.
