Treatment Focus: Polynucleotides & Ameela Eyes
Today’s journal entry is covering one of my go-to treatments for tackling tired eyes, Ameela Eyes.
One of the most common questions I hear in my clinic is “How can I appear less tired?”, because as we age, we begin to see the effects of tiredness more visibly etched on our faces, which can be particularly apparent around the eyes.
Read on for my expert view on the latest under eye treatment.
What Is An Under Eye Treatment?
Designed to address common dermatological under eye issues (such as dark circles, puffiness or wrinkles) without disrupting the delicate skin in that area, there are a range of under eye treatments I regularly deliver in my clinic, such as:
Light Eyes Ultra: Hyaluronic Acid, antioxidants and botanical extracts to reduce puffiness and wrinkles.
Platelet Rich Plasma: A natural skin rejuvenation therapy to stimulate growth factors, minimising fine lines and dark under-eye circles.
Brite Eyes: A combination treatment I devised combining Morpheus8 (microneedling and directional radiofrequency) with the brightening boost of Light Eyes Ultra to help improve crepiness and fine lines.
Ameela Eyes: A polynucleotide skin booster to address patients’ concerns such as puffiness, dark circles and wrinkles.
What Are Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are microscopic fragments derived from DNA (in this case fish DNA) and, when injected, can stimulate our cells to generate positive changes within the skin. Also known as biorevitalisation or bio-stimulation, polynucleotides can kick-start the regeneration of collagen and elastin (essential building blocks of healthy, firm skin), improve tissue regeneration, increase microcirculation and protect the skin from damaging free radicals, thanks to their high antioxidant content. Polynucleotides are also hydrating, meaning that you tend to see an immediate improvement in the skin’s appearance.
What is Ameela Eyes?
Ameela Eyes is a skin booster that utilises the power of polynucleotides to target the under eye area, designed to improve skin microcirculation, provide deep moisture, firm and contour.
Specially formulated for use on the delicate skin in the eye area, an Ameela skin booster addresses puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles and volume loss through:
Improving Microcirculation: Allowing the blood vessels to transport fluid away from the treatment area, leading to a reduction in puffiness and dark circles
Boosting Elastin and Collagen: Helping the skin to reconstruct and improve hydration, resulting in a refreshed appearance
Anti-Inflammatory and Antioxidant Properties: Shielding from environmental damage, known to contribute to signs of ageing
When used on the eye area, the Ameela treatment is a great alternative to tear trough filler. Furthermore, the unique properties of polynucleotides makes them safe for all skin types, and means they can be easily combined with a range of other rejuvenating therapies.
Ameela Eyes Treatment: The Details
To get the most from Ameela Eyes, I recommend a course of 2-4 treatments, taken 2-4 weeks apart. The pain point is moderate, and downtime is fairly minimal at about 24-72 hours (as there is a potential for bruising, as with most injectables).
The effects are speedy, with results generally seen within one week, and lasting for up to six months.
