Inulin

What it is

Inulin is a natural prebiotic fibre derived from plants like chicory root. In skincare, it acts as a prebiotic ingredient that helps maintain a healthy balance of microorganisms on the skin’s surface, supporting the skin’s natural microbiome.

How it works in skin and body care

The skin’s microbiome forms an important part of its defence system. When this balance is disrupted -by stress, harsh cleansers, or environmental aggressors- it can lead to sensitivity, dryness, or breakouts. Inulin works by selectively feeding the “good” bacteria that live on the skin, helping them flourish while keeping harmful microbes in check.

This strengthens the skin barrier, boosts hydration, and improves comfort, especially for dry, sensitive, or reactive skin types.

In body and hand care, inulin supports resilience against frequent washing or exposure to environmental stressors, leaving skin feeling softer and more balanced.
