Quercetin

What is it?

Quercetin is a plant-derived flavonoid with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and skin-soothing properties. Naturally found in foods like apples, onions, and green tea, it helps protect the skin from oxidative stress caused by environmental factors such as pollution and UV radiation. In skincare, quercetin has been gaining in popularity for the last year or so.

What is Quercetin Used For in Skincare?

Anti-Ageing: Helps combat free radical damage, reducing signs of premature ageing like fine lines and wrinkles.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Soothes irritation and redness, making it beneficial for sensitive or reactive skin.
Skin Barrier Support:  Strengthens the skin’s natural defences, helping to prevent moisture loss and irritation.
Brightening: May assist in evening out skin tone by reducing oxidative stress that contributes to dullness and pigmentation.

It is often found in anti-ageing serums, moisturisers for sensitive skin, and products designed to protect against environmental damage.
