Kojic Acid

Kojic acid is a by-product of fermenting certain types of fungi, such as those used in sake production. It is a natural skin brightener known for its ability to reduce the appearance of pigmentation and dark spots.

In dermatology, kojic acid is commonly used in serums, creams, and masks to address melasma, sunspots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It inhibits the production of melanin, making it an effective treatment for uneven skin tone.

The benefits of kojic acid include visibly brighter, more even skin and a reduction in stubborn dark spots. Its gentle nature makes it suitable for most skin types, though it’s often paired with soothing ingredients to minimise the risk of irritation during long-term use.
