Moisturising

Moisturising is the process of sealing hydration into the skin by strengthening the skin barrier. A good moisturiser prevents water loss, protects against environmental damage, and keeps the skin soft and supple.

Hydration refers to increasing the water content in the skin, ensuring cells are plump and functioning properly. This is achieved with humectants like hyaluronic acid or glycerin, which draw water into the skin.

Moisturising, on the other hand, is about locking in that hydration and strengthening the skin barrier. This is done with emollients and occlusives, which seal in moisture and prevent water loss.

Both are essential for healthy skin, but hydration adds water, while moisturising keeps it there.

For best results, choose a product suited to your skin type—gel-based for oily skin, cream-based for dry—and apply after cleansing or using hydrating serums to lock in moisture.
